The icon of the Twelve Feasts represents the twelve great feasts of the liturgical year of the Orthodox Church: depicted on the icon in separate panels are arranged around the central scene of the resurrection of Christ and the Descent into Hell. Around the central icon follow one another the twelve episodes of the life of Christ and the Mother of God. They are, in order, the Nativity of the Mother of God, the Presentation of Mary in the Temple, the Nativity, the Presentation in the Temple of Jesus, the Baptism, the Entry into Jerusalem, the Transfiguration, the Ascension of Christ in Glory, the Trinity of the Old Testament, the Exaltation of the Cross and the Dormition of Mary.
