When the fame of Marten Toonder Studios approached its peak, "Tom Poes weekly magazine" was launched. Young studio employees were given the opportunity to publish their comics in the weekly magazine. A number of them later became greats in the comic book world and left behind beautiful oeuvres. For example, Hans G. Kresse (including Eric de Noorman), Piet Wijn (including Douwe Dabbert) and Henk Sprenger (including Kick Wilstra). A total of 188 issues would appear between 1947 and 1951.
Between 2009 and 2012, publisher Boumaar beautifully reprinted these 188 issues in 13 hardcovers. This series has been sold out at the publisher for several years.
As a conclusion, "part 14" was made in a very limited edition; a beautiful luxury box/portfolio with 20 beautiful art prints of previously unpublished drawings made by artists from Marten Toonder Studios. This portfolio is inextricably part of the 14th part of the 13-part series as published by Boumaar. The beautiful portfolio has become extra rare because part of the amount of beautiful storage boxes had to be destroyed when they turned out not to be properly bound. Partly for this reason, the initially planned small edition has become much smaller. With part of the remainder to be approved, the corners of the inlay box have been manually reinforced with binding cloth (tape) by the printer/binder and subsequently approved and put into circulation. But in the end it turned out to be a very small edition. It is therefore a huge challenge for the many proud owners of the 13-part series to acquire part 14 and thus complete the series.
This lot contains a copy of such a luxurious Portfolio in which no fewer than 20 beautiful, frame-worthy art prints with drawings by employees of Toonder Studios that have never been published before. The box is beautiful and all 20 art prints are also in mint condition.
Acquiring such a Portfolio completes the 14-part series.
See also the photos that are part of the description and on which the quality is shown as well as possible. A few photos also show the 13-piece series, but this is not included in this lot. Those few photos serve to illustrate the inextricable connection of this 14th part with the 13 part series. This lot will be well packaged and sent by registered mail on August 6.
