Catawiki’s goal is to make special objects universally available. Our weekly auctions feature thousands of unusual, rare, and exceptional objects you won’t find in just any store. Chic pair of hand-cut glasses in heavy crystal (lead glass): 206 g and 219 g. Clear and long sound.
Glasses with a similar shape and decoration are attributed in the exhibition catalog "Verrieries et Cristalleries Namuroises du XVIIIe Siècle à nos Jours" (N. Bastin, J. Toussaint, 1985) to L. Zoude & Cie., Namur. In the second half of the 18th century, the Zoude glassworks in Namur was one of the first on the Continent to manufacture lead glass, but it soon switched back to normal glass to save costs. After the closure of the Vonêche Cristallerie in 1830, the production of lead glass was reintroduced under Louis Zoude (3rd generation owner of the Zoude family). Tools and personnel were taken over from Vonêche.
No chips or cracks.
Well-maintained registered shipping. 67383559
