Very beautiful binding signed by Manuel Gérard executed in full morocco decorated on the back and on the covers with cold-stamped vine leaves & enhanced with small irregular flat areas in gold leaf and small blind circles, some pushed in black ; gold wallpaper liners and endpapers, gilt top edge, preserved covers and spine, lined case.

Very nice edition of André Gide's translation of "L'offrande lyrique" by Rabindranâth Thâkur dit Tagore (1861-1941)
Illustrated with 20 chisel engravings by Tavy Notton: 10 in the text and 10 inset.

Edition of 500 copies, this one of 375 on vellum of
lana (no. 391).

STATE; Back a little insolated, a micro accident to the head cover, otherwise a copy in excellent condition.

Rabindranâth Thâkur dit Tagore (1861-1941) one of the greatest Indian writers (both novelist, short story poet and philosopher) of his time. The "universalist" value of his work was celebrated by a Nobel Prize for Literature in 1913, recognizing both its lyrical value and its authenticity.
