The echo of soap operas
Paris: chez les éditeurs, 1842
Binding of the time, half-swarf

2nd year (1842) of the newspaper L'Écho des feuilletons. This literary periodical illustrated with out-of-text engravings appeared 2 times a year between 1841 and 1887. In this issue we find texts by Honoré de Balzac, Paul de Musset, Émile Souvestre, Louise Colet, Agénor Altaroche, Alfred des Essarts, Anaïs Segalas...

The editors of this journal, J. B. Fellens and L. P. Dufour, succeeded in convincing Dumas of the value of illustrated publications. After collaborating with Louis XIV and his century, they took charge of the publication of The Count of Monte Cristo illustrated with woodcuts by Paul Gavarni and Tony Johannot (1846).

Rubbing, freckles, quirky notebooks, a disjointed notebook. 67463919
