Ennio Finzi (Venice, 1931), one of the most important Italian abstractionists, made his debut in 1947 at the Bevilacqua La Masa Foundation in Venice where in 1956 and 1958 he created two important personal exhibitions introduced in the catalog by Toni Toniato and Umbro Apollonio. In 1957 he exhibited at the Schneider Gallery in Rome (presented by Virgilio Guidi) and at the Numero in Florence, while in 1958 at the Apollinaire in Milan (with a critical text by Giuseppe Marchiori) he presented the latest research on the topic of "light-vibration rhythms" that interest Lucio Fontana. Also in the fifties he exhibited in collective exhibitions on Spatialism at the Galleria del Cavallino of Carlo Cardazzo. He participates by invitation in the Quadrennial of 1959 and again in the 2000 edition. In 1986 he also takes part in the International Art Biennale in Venice.
Considered among the Italian forerunners in the field of kineticism and programmed art, he has been developing his research within pure visuality since the 1950s. The rigorous structuring of his pictorial language that develops throughout the sixties and seventies is theoretically supported by Umbro Apollonio and Carlo Belloli. He then elaborates a research based again on color, contributing to the definition of a new line of abstraction that has lasted from the eighties until today. He has also been doing works on paper, projects on structured visuality and pastel works with collage on cardboard since the 1950s. The publication of the general catalog of his works on behalf of Silvana Editoriale is imminent. 67439663
