Georg Ebers (1837-1898) was a German Egyptologist. We owe him several scientific works as well as historical novels whose setting is ancient Egypt.

Splendid publisher's cardboard signed Engel, full cherry red percaline, front cover decorated with a plate by Paul Souze with orientalist decoration: felucca on the Nile passing in front of the Sphinx and the Pyramids, rows of stylized papyri below, large cartouche in the shape of a talisman and large arabesque decor, gilt edges.

Condition: Leather a little rubbed on the caps and joints. Very clean dishes, corners and edges of the percaline rubbed. Solid hinge. Interior in very good fresh condition, rare foxing, mainly on the endpapers and the color map of Lower Egypt. Handwritten ex-libris dated January 1, 1880 (F. Pichon) on the first endpaper.
