Very rare mute servant, centerpiece, beggar... in silvered pewter by L'orfèvre WMF, Germany, circa 1920.
Transitional style between Art Nouveau and Art Deco, stylized flowers of Art Nouveau and clean geometric shapes of Art Deco and Bauhaus.
Complete with its mobile central plug.
Particular points: many traces of desilvering, especially on the bottom of the cups, but the polished pewter retains a beautiful shine.
Completely acceptable state of preservation for such a rare piece: desilvering, rubbing and shallow marks. Completely stable and functional, the reliefs are clean and flawless. A hole, probably created on one of the corners (see photo). the mobile but solid central plug (restoration by old welding).
Exceptional piece stamped under its base: "WMF", a punch "B" and "AS" for its creator, to be identified.
