The origins of micro mosaics date back to Roman times.
The technique is quite complicated.
Micro mosaics were made of heated glass that was pulled into small strands and cut into tiny pieces called tesserae.
Metal oxides were then added to the glass to achieve colour. The tesserae were then placed and glued to form an image.
This bracelet is set in goldstone.

Goldstone glass is a type of man-made glass that is known for its sparkling appearance. It is created by suspending tiny metallic particles within the glass while it is in a molten state. The end result is a glass that has a metallic sheen and a deep, dark color that resembles that of black star sapphires or black diamonds.

The origins of goldstone glass can be traced back to 17th-century Italy, where it was first created by the monks of the Monastery of San Lorenzo. The monks were experimenting with new ways to create glass and stumbled upon the recipe for goldstone glass by accident. They kept the recipe a closely guarded secret and only shared it with a select few individuals.
