Very rare Zwitter Beetle for sale, this model was produced for only a few months.
The Volkswagen Beetle, which was manufactured from 1938 to 2003, is the most well-known Volkswagen, the most famous German car, and generally one of the best-known cars ever built.
The Beetle that we are offering for sale is a so-called Zwitter. Also known as a transitional model "brilkever" (Spectacled Beetle). A model that was only briefly produced from 1952 to 1953. In the transition period from the Spectacled Beetle to the Oval Beetle, this six-month period was used to finish up the old parts of the Spectacled Beetle, while the rest of the car (such as the dashboard) were already in the style of the Oval Beetle. Typical features of the Zwitter are the spectacle windows combined with an oval dashboard, a chrome trim around the spectacle windows, draft windows in the doors, the VDO odometer with directional arrows, the interior light above the driver's seat, the well-known rear lights with hearts shape, the roll - accelerator (pedal), the ashtray without a handle, and the "ribbed" doors up to the chrome mouldings along the sides of the Beetle. All these elements were not present on the Spectacled Beetle, and that is what makes the ZWITTER Beetle so unique. All of these elements are present on this Beetle.
This Zwitter is in good technical condition and comes with a new MOT (technical inspection). As a Spectacled Beetle does not meet today's safety requirements, it has been modified in various ways to suit the present time:
• 1600CC engine with spaghetti exhaust
• disc brakes front and rear
• 12 V electrical system
• Good lighting bulbs
• Built-in radio system
• Chrome 5-spoke EMPI rims
The engine starts immediately with a nice sound. Furthermore, the car shifts smoothly through all gears and it brakes properly, thanks in part to the disc brakes. The paint is in neat condition, it is older paint with some patina or marks on both sides.
This rare "Zwitter" has a Dutch registration with a valid MOT with no expiry date due to the Beetle's age. However, we will arrange for a new MOT (technical inspection), to ensure that the car is technically sound. This classic can therefore be enjoyed immediately!
A Spectacled Beetle 'Zwitter' model is virtually impossible to find, and they are only very rarely offered for sale. So don’t wait too long and become the new owner of this timeless Volkswagen!
