Stéphanie Félicité Du Crest de Saint-Aubin, Comtesse de Genlis, Marquise de Sillery, was a French lady companion and writer.

Born in Paris in 1758, she quickly gained admiration for her talents as a harpist and her quick-wittedness. Married at 16 to Count Charles Brûlart de Genlis. In 1770, she was appointed maid of honor to the Duchess of Chartres, mother of the future King of France Louis-Philippe, at the Royal Palace and was entrusted with the education of the ducal children, a task she performed for nine years.

She sympathized with the revolution, but had to avoid France from 1793. She lived in Switzerland and Germany and was only allowed to return to France under the Consulate (1801). Napoleon grants him a pension and Louis-Philippe grants him a salary under the Restoration -
