OPTICKS :Or A Treatise of the Reflections, Refractions, Inflections & Colours of Light
By Sir Isaac Newton

And an Introduction by Prof. E.T. Whittaker, F.R.S.

In this book he discusses many phenomena including the colours that make up white light, the phenomena now called "Newton's Rings," and an explanation of double refraction to try and give him priority over Huygens's explanation.
