Ersel (pseudonym of Erwin Sels) started his comics career as an employee of his father Frank Sels, but since the late 1980s he has built up an impressive body of work that mainly consists of realistically drawn historical comics albums and series.

He is also a valued illustrator of youth magazines and novels. An extensive selection of that work and many other loose illustrations come out of the filing cabinets for the first time.
