Help End The Suffering, with World Horse Welfare

For over 100 years, World Horse Welfare have worked to improve the lives of horses. They do this through research, education, and care. They've influenced over 50 pieces of legislation to bring about change for the better.

World Horse Welfare show no signs of slowing down in their efforts. The licensing of equine sanctuaries and safer fireworks legislation are just a couple of examples of the work they're carrying out.

Another of their current campaigns is for the end of long-distance transport of horses across Europe for slaughter by 2027.

Welfare Issues Caused By Long Distance Journeys

Horses unfit for travel are still being loaded onto vehicles for long journeys. They may face hours bracing themselves in metal lorries during soaring temperatures. This can often lead to exhaustion, and serious health risks.

There are also concerns about inconsistent driving and handling. They advised there are "few checks in place to enforce laws and ensure that drivers have received requisite training to handle their precious cargo appropriately".

World Horse Welfare Needs Your Help

A big part of World Horse Welfare's influence in safeguarding horses is providing evidence. Without being able to demonstrate the negative impact of certain events and practices, it's unlikely those in power will make the vital changes so desperately needed.
