Gerard van Straaten (April 17, 1924 - April 6, 2011) was an illustrator from The Hague, who also made comics, especially in the period 1948-1978.
He is the brother of cartoonist Peter van Straaten. Gerard van Straaten studied from 1942 at the Applied Arts School in Arnhem.
In the 1940s, Gerard van Straaten started working at the Toonder Studios and illustrated various comic strips for Tom Poes Weekblad, among others.
Offered is a beautiful watercolor used to illustrate the story Goud en Geuren in Tom Poes Weekblad 2 Volume number 52 from 1949.
