Advert Description

We are Chew Valley Critters, a family run and home based rescue, rehabilitation and sanctuary service with over 20 years of experience.

The animals that come to us are with us for the rest of their lives, spoilt, loved and receive regular vet care with our on site vet. We do not breed from, sell, or trade any animal that comes to us. Where possible every animal is desexed and fully vaccinated, and we only take on what we can comfortably look after and have experience with. We may be able to help find an alternative home if we don’t have availability, as we have contacts to help us. If you don’t receive a reply from us within 48 hours assume we are currently unable to take in your animal or find them an alternative home.

We have experience with most animals from birds, reptiles, other exotics, fish, rodents, and many more, so pop us a message and enquire!

Due to past break ins we’re unable to offer viewings of our animals to protect them from theft, we hope you understand! We are happy to stay in touch with updates on your animal - we understand giving up a pet is a difficult decision.

Need help? Message with the following: Type of animal, age, any issues, location (Somerset/ Bristol area ONLY), if
animal comes with set up - we have a few left empty for emergencies but it’s always helpful if they can come with what they’re used to, even if it’s just temporary until an upgrade, and a photo of the animal and the set up too if it comes with it. But please note we will not take an animal without a set up if we believe you are just outting the animal to replace it with another.

We won’t respond without the above information.

We are a friendly bunch and your reason for giving up your pet is irrelevant to us, we are not going to judge you. All we want is for these animals to have a safe, loving forever home, not to end up with those who are just “freebie hunters” who may not have the animals best interests at heart, dumped, or stuck in busy rescues.

Preloved Safety Advice:

  • Important: Before responding to any pet ad, be sure to read our Pet Buying Checklist and download your copy for free.
  • Photos: Photos on ads can be misleading. Sellers may temporarily group animals in confined spaces, purely to get a photo. These images don't represent an animal's natural habitat. Always visit the pet in their current home so you can see their housing for yourself.
  • Research: Always learn everything you can about a species before contacting a seller. This will give you a better idea of what to expect when you go to visit a seller, what questions to ask, and what else you might need to buy.
  • Payments: Always use a safe payment method that offers you some protection, such as PayPal or Credit Card.
  • Reporting Concerns: If you've seen an ad on Preloved the breaches our welfare listing guidelines, you can click on 'Report Advert' just below the ad and we'll investigate your concerns.
