Pupdate: Mrs Tiggywinkle
We were delighted when we recieved this Pet Update from Preloved member, Elisabeth. Her beautiful pony, Tiggy, is the perfect addition to her family!
Tiggy
Meet Mrs Tiggywinkle! She is our beautiful 14hh chestnut mare. She is Arab x Welsh and is only 5, so she has a lot to learn, but that gives us something to work on together - to build a relationship and our understanding of each other for the future.
Tiggy has only been with us since Christmas, but already I can’t imagine life without her. She has the sweetest nature and is incredibly friendly and trusting. She doesn't have a bad bone in her and is always willing to try for you and to learn new things. I bought her for myself and my 9 year old daughter and she is proving to be the perfect pony – inexperienced enough to be a bit of a project for me and with baby ways that need addressing, but safe and reliable enough that my daughter has already been able to ride her around the fields and woods around the yard, which I didn’t expect to be possible for months yet.
Owning a pony is unquestionably hard work. Trying to fit in twice daily visits to the stables with an already busy life of work, children’s activity runs and keeping a home going is never easy! But on the upside, I am fitter and have lost weight (due to all the exercise and a lack of time to eat!) and I no longer have time for evenings sat in front of rubbish telly eating chocolate, as I am already asleep!
The most rewarding part?
Finding a new best friend through Preloved, gaining a friend in her previous owner, who has been there to advise and support, and being able to make plans to make the future even more exciting for us all. If you are thinking about offering an animal a forever home, the best advice I can give would be that if you are prepared to put your heart and soul into your new pet and listen to what they ask you for, what they want and need, you will be rewarded tenfold!
