Halloween Party On A Budget

T'is the season to be spooky. Though the most spooky thing at the moment is the cost of everything. However, with half term and Halloween a head of us we need to start planning how to spend our time and money! Which is why we have been looking at where you can cut some corners and host a Halloween party on a budget. Let's get a treat without any tricks!

Halloween Party?!

We know that America goes much bigger for Halloween then the UK. In total it's a billion dollar industry, so there is definitely ways to save some money! Either way why not celebrate Halloween with a party if you can do it on a budget? That in mind lets look at our top eight tips for cutting costs for your Halloween party!

DIY Decorations

When it comes to decorating your house for any occasion this can really add up. However, it isn't something you can really skip out on if your party is themed.  Which is why at Preloved we would ALWAYS encourage you to DIY your decorations. When you are looking for activities to do with your kids for the half term this is a great one! Decorating for a Halloween Party is so fun and getting creative with the decks is even more! If you are struggling for the time to make them then check out Preloved for some second hand decks or home bargains for cheaper options.

DIY Costumes

You don't have to go all out for your costumes. Some of my favourites as a kid were ones my mum had put together by adding details to some of my old clothes. A easy costume I created the other year for my kid was a pirate costume. I put them in a white shirt, brown pants, boots and then started added loads of belts, scarfs, necklaces and feathers! All I had to buy was a hat and make them a sword from card board! Arrrgghhhhh t'was a pirates life for them! So don't shy away from getting creative as it can help lower the costs.

Halloween Party Themed Food

We have all noticed that those few luxury items we liked in the supermarkets have increased in price. Well with that in mind we know that the seasonal versions will be going up even more this year. So let's get creative and start looking at different ways we can make some of the Halloween themed food online. We have on our Pinterest some exciting and simple ways to make food Halloween themed. Some are as easy as using your pumpkin and having the food come out it's mouth!

Get Your Sweets Cheaper

Make sure that you aren't going to the big supermarkets and remember you don't need the branded items for kids. Typically I go for the copy cat items and go to the home bargains or Aldi shops for it.

Picking Your Pumpkin From The Shop

If you are looking to lower the costs then maybe consider avoiding the Instagram hotspots of pumpkin picking. It's a great day out if you can budget towards it but ultimately it can cost you a great deal more than getting them from your local supermarket. Not to mention the later you go the less option. If you have the will power to go to the pumpkin patch and JUST get a pumpkin then it doesn't end up much dearer but how can you say no to those Halloween maze's.

Face Paint Is Your Friend

When you want to get creative with the Halloween Party costume then why not get some face paint and paint their costume! Thinking spider man but don't want to spend that crazy amount on a costume? Then get on YouTube and start practicing how to draw his mask!

Organise A Spooky Film Night

If you don't have the time for making decorations or the budget for buying them why not look at renting a film instead? Have a film night as your Halloween party! This way the kids can come in PJs spooky or not, get snug and watch a 'slightly' scary film, think Wallace and Gromit; The Curse of the Were-Rabbit!

Halloween Party Activities

There is no excuse if you are having a Halloween party not to have at least one of these activities. Think spooky themed musical statues or bopping apples where all you need is a handful of apples and a washing bowl filled with water?!? If you have some more time and your kids are older why not make up a Halloween themed quiz?!
