How old is your Preloved Pooch now?

1 year 5 months

What breed is your dog?

Jug (Jack Russell crossed with a Pug)

How long has he been part of your family?

1 year 2 months

How would you describe his character?

Cheeky, very sweet, velcro dog, lazy, playful, food driven!

What is your favourite thing about your dog?

His gorgeous little face, his enthusiastic approach to everything in life and his lovely sweet nature towards everyone and everything.

What has been the most challenging part of giving a dog a home?

We got Doug as a 9 week old puppy and despite working in a vets for years when I was younger, nothing can prepare you for the challenges of training and bringing up a puppy. He was hard work and sometimes I did wonder if I had done the right thing by him and by me! But I guess that is part of having a young puppy, they call it the "puppy blues". He has come out of the other side of the naughtiness now though and is a lovely well adjusted little dog so I obviously did ok.

The complete and utter falling in love with this small furry creature, I love him as much as a mother loves a child. He is my constant companion, my shadow and my devoted and most loyal friend.

What advice would give to anyone wanting to give a dog a home?

Read as much as you can on what is required of a dog owner, they are a tie and though really rewarding can be hard work. Research your breeds and see if your chosen breed is suitable for your lifestyle, make sure you have people on hand who are prepared to take care of the dog should you fall ill. Remember - they are a living creature with feelings and needs and if you cannot provide a suitable home, do not be selfish by getting one just because you want one, they are not a toy or a commodity.
